Welcome to Dufferin Wind Power
The Dufferin Wind Farm will span more than 6,000 acres, yet only one, to one-and-a-half acres per turbine, will be removed from agriculture. Local farmers will be able to dedicate parcels of their land to a new harvest – wind energy!
The Dufferin Wind Power project proposes to build 49 wind turbines that will have the capacity to generate 99.1 MW of power annually. An average North American household uses about 10,500 kWh of electricity each year. This project will have the ability to supply enough electricity to power between 22,500 and 30,000 households each year – whenever the wind is blowing. Theoretically, that’s more than enough power for every household in Dufferin County.
The local farmers and landowners who are involved in this project are enthusiastic about helping to provide clean energy for you and future generations, while also contributing to the financial well being of the Dufferin community.
